Kanchanjunga is the third highest mountain in the world. It is about 8,586 meter (28,169 feet) above the sea level. There are about five peaks in Kanchanjung Range out of which two peaks are in Nepal's Taplejung District and the other three - Main, Central and South are on the border between Nepal and North Sikkim.

It was first climbed on 25 May 1955 by Joe Brown and George Band, who were part of a British expedition.
